As one of the prime ways to communicate with members and non-members, the White Mountain Chapter web-site is a key information resource. Having fresh content on the site increases the site's usefulness to the community of BMW enthusiasts.

That is where you come in. If you are a White Mountain Chapter member, and have an interest in helping maintain and improve the web-site, or just want to find out more about the web-site "dream team" we are forming, please contact our web-master, Paul Michali.

There are many areas, both small and large, where you can help, and at a range of skill levels. Certainly, for complex tasks, as in enhancing the web site architecture, we are looking for people with knowledge of web technologies (e.g. PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript), but there are many tasks that require no more skills that what you already know to visit this site.

Here is a sample of the types of web-site work that we are seeking help with to give you an idea of the range of skills.

  • Updating photos and site banner periodically (basic photo editing skills).
  • Enhancing the layout and color scheme (graphic design, web design skills).
  • Using the administration tools to send e-mail blasts, creating news items, and updating events in the calendar (basic computer skills).
  • Managing the photo gallery (basic computer skills).
  • Updating web page content and validating pages (English skills, some familiarity with HTML).
  • Enhancing the site administration tools (Solid understanding of PHP, HTML, MySql, and Javascript, some familiarity with AJAX).
  • Designing new site features and enhancing the web site architecture (Web-site design skills).

Ideally, we'd like to have two or three core members on the team, with overlapping skills, so that several people can assist in activities, and provide better coverage. We'd love to have some experienced people to create some of the advanced enhancements to the site, but anyone with interest in helping will be considered.

There is a lot of challenging and interesting things that we'd like to do with the site, with opportunities to learn more about web technologies, work with a team, and gain experience in an exciting field.
