October is traditionally the time of haunted houses and trick or treat. Why should the
kids have all the fun? This year, the "annual" Back Roads Rally will consist of
two back to back events; a Sunday brunch, followed by a non-competitive, scenic drive
with a haunted theme. You need not be a member to participate, so bring family, ghosts, and
friends to this unique event!
There will be a brunch at the Common Man restaurant in Merrimack, NH, which is the 1794 historic (and haunted) former home of Matthew Thornton (a signer of the Declaration of Independence). We will have a room reserved from 10 AM until Noon. This pay as you go brunch costs $13.99 for adults and $6.99 for children under 12.
The road rally starts in the parking lot of the Thornton Graveyard, which is on the corner of Daniel Webster Highway and Greelley Street, across from the Common Man. The entrance to the parking lot is from Greeley street (so head East from the Common Man).
From Noon until 1 PM participants may pick up a directions packet for $10 per vehicle.
The driving route will link various haunted sites in central NH, providing an opportunity
for a relaxed, and non-competitive, scenic drive. The estimated driving time is four hours,
for this self paced event.
There are no events to display.
The rally ends at the Common Man restaurant in Concord, NH, where we have a reserved
room until 7 PM. You may stop in for a post rally gathering, compare notes, and relax.
Any refreshments will be pay as you go.
Plan ahead to spend the day with familiar chapter members and also meet some new
friends. Whether you chose to attend one or both events we look forward to seeing
you. No reservations are required. Both events will proceed regardless of weather
conditions.
If you have questions about this event, you can contact the rally coordinator, David Harrison.
